Owo hosts Lions Club District 404 A1 5th convention

Nigeria’s ancient city of culture, Owo, in Ondo State has welcomed Lions from five states, namely Ogun, Lagos,  Edo, Delta and Ondo who have converged for the 5th convention of District 404 A1.

The Club, an International non-political service organisation with focus on humanitarian services, was established in the United States of America in 1917, and has over 46, 000 local clubs in more than 218 countries and geographical locations including those of District 404 A1 in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Edo and Delta states. 

At the first open plenary session of the 5th convention, the District 404 A1 Governor, Lion Monday Onyeme, represented by the 1st Vice District Governor,  Lion Adekunle Adedipe, enjoined members to relish the serenity of the host community.

Team adviser of the local organising committee, Lion Mrs Kofoworola Jegede, who was impressed with the turnout, noted that the charity tilt of the club makes it unique.

Candidate for the 2nd Vice District Governor Position, Lion Fortune Wagbashoma,  who exalted the current leadership of the district, called for more support from members, to enable the club achieve set goals for the Lion year.

In a lecture titled “Roles of Women in Leadership,” Dr Mrs Folasade Olajuyigbe, challenged women to build a stronger support network to enable more women attain their full potentials.

As the convention continues, members say their passion to touch lives significantly has never been more fired.

The convention, which holds at the Best Western Plus Mydas Hotel and Resorts, Owo began on 24th and ends on 27th January, 2019.
